Since its opening in 1983, the popular Hong Kong Coliseum has played host to thousands of local and international conferences, performances and events attracting visitors from all over the world. Becoming one of the main locations for the 2009 East Asian Games, the entrance area of the Coliseum was highlighted with an outstanding lighting installation, not only to increase the building’s attractiveness, but mainly to slow down the immense visitor flow by redirecting the people’s attention to the lighting attraction. Creating a unique experience, Traxon Technologies installed an eye- catching interactive wall using its stunning 16PXL Board RGB. The fixtures are installed behind semi-transparent Barrisol for diffusing the light into a blending of vivid colors and shapes. Finished with a layer of reflective glass, the resulting stylish mirror effect attracts the eyes of all beholders. A spectacular feature of the extraordinary installation is its integrated motion-to-light sensor technology, tracing people’s silhouette with a heat-motion sensing camera. According to the emitted body-heat of the observer, stunning light effects are created following the movement of each passer-by. Controlled by a network of Micro Servers, the installation emphasizes the Coliseum’s particularity amongst Hong Kong’s attractions.
